Jaitley Neglects Telugoos in Budget

AP and TS got a raw deal in the union budget 2018 after their agonising wait for larger allocations to their projects

The budget presented by Arun Jaitely, the finance minister,  mainly focussed on agriculture and rural economy but didn’t address the needs of the two Telugu speaking state

AP CM had requested around Rs.11000Cr.for various institutions in the state to PM in his last meeting. It seems the centre paid little heed to it.  There is no mentioning  about the NABARD funds to Polavaram. The North Andhra people’s dream for Vizag separate railway zone has remained unfulfilled. Duggirajapatnam port,Kadapa steel plant,Vijayawada and Vizag metro have gone to oblivion. These are all the promises made by central government  during elections. However, the FM indulged in eye-washing by  with his grudging allocations to a few  institutions, say, Rs.42cr to IIM, Rs.19 cr to Dredging Corporation, Rs.108cr to Vizag port, Rs.50 cr to IIT etc. The MPs from AP have expressed their displeasure for this neglect.

Same is the case with Telangana too. The FM allotted Rs.2000cr to Singareni and Rs.50cr to IIT, Hyderabad. Major ongoing projects in TS were not even mentioned. As the MSP prices are increased 1.5 times this may some impact in addressing farmer’s suicides in both the states.

The two states haven’t got their due share even in the Budget earmarked for Railways.

The govt neglected both states but  allotted Rs.18000 cr to Bangalore Metro project and Rs.15000 cr to Mumbai suburban railway. It needs no emphasis both the cities fall under BJP-ruled states to which elections are around .
