Prakash Raj Pens Karunanidhi’s Story

One more star from silver screen emerges to champion rationalism with Dravidian touch. Prakash Raj hit headlines attacking ‘Saffron Terror’, when Gouri Lankesh was murdered. The charges he levelled against fringe elements of Hindutva Ideology at the time are coming true. The cops of Karnataka and Maharashtra have almost nabbed these elements who were responsible for the killings of rationalists Dabholkar and Pansari.

Now Prakash Raj has taken a different route to bring Dravidian Rationalism to centre stage. He has written a book on Karunanidhi, who infused life to Dravidian politics to pinnacle, in Kannada. He is presently working on Tamil version. He has revealed this in a media interview recently. He, however, has not given any hint whether he is coming with English translation of the book.

Prakash Raj played the role of Karunanidhi, in Maniratnam’s movie, ‘Iruvur’

Of course, Prakash Raj, is not the first one to write a book on life and mission of Karunanidhi.  Sandhya Ravishankar’s book in English,’Karunanidhi: A life in Politics’ is widely read and acclaimed. S. Swaminathan, long ago wrote ‘Karunanidhi: man of destiny’.
