Covid-19 Lockdown: Boon for Rich, Bane for Poor
The ongoing lockdown (because of Covid-19) is discriminating the poor from the rich. It has become blessing in disguise for some sections of the society, while bought misfortune for the other.
For instance, when asked to Yogesh a guy from upper middle class in Hyderabad, how he was spending his time in this lockdown, he said that it was bliss for him. He felt happy as he was able to spend time with his beloved family. He and his father are now helping his mother in kitchen and taking part in other house hold chores.
However when the same question was raised to the working class woman, she answered that it had become hell for her as she needed to feed her three children thrice a day. When asked about her income she said she had worked as a maid, but this epidemic made her stay home. Moreover her husband is a Bibulous, who doesn’t bother about them but cares for his own drink.
While the former’s family members stay in a comfortable flat relishing cooked food, the latter’s live in a single room with no power connectivity filling their bellies with leftovers. The lockdown has become two contrasting sides of the same coin:”Boon for rich and bane for poor”. The fragile conditions of the poor are causing humanitarian crisis.
