The Union Government came on record a day before the presentation of Union Budget 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Yes. The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley,\u00a0 while tabling\u00a0 the pink- papered Economic Survey, revealed these facts. Giving a brief insight into the economy survey CEA Arvind Subramanian\u00a0 in his speech atoned these details. He went in detail about the prevailing gender disparity in the country and the highly skewed sex ratio in India.<\/p>\n<p>The survey points out, despite the government&#8217;s progress in women empowerment, the preference to male offspring on the basis of son meta preference where the last child is preferably male, has resulted in a skewed sex ratio. In the agricultural sector, though women as agricultural laborers and cultivators is highly increasing, yet only 12.8% of them are provided with operational holdings. Looking into these issues, the survey recommends\u00a0 creation of\u00a0 awareness on schemes like Beth Bachao Beti Padhao,\u00a0 Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and mandatory maternity leave.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They are tillers but don&#8217;t possess land.
