Plot: Twist in Wedding
This is the story of an Indian girl who marries a Pakistani Army officer to spy for her country during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. Sehmat (Alia bhatt),a 20 year old immature and inexperienced kashmiri girl, undergoes dramatic changes after her marriage with a Pakistani Army officer as per her father’s wish to save the country. She had to give up her college education and gets training under an Indian Intelligence Agent before getting married to Iqbal Syed (Vicky Kaushal).
Story: Based on Real Life Story
Sehmat is not allowed to reveal the real reason behind her marriage to anyone in the family or friends. After few weeks of settling down in the new country and her in-law’s house, she starts keeping an eye on all the activities and meetings that are held by the Pakistani army officers in the house in order to fetch the vital information. After her rigorous attempts to reach the important documents and information, she finally succeeds in making significant information about Pak’s planned submarine attack on India to the Indian government.
Screenplay: Spy’s bravery unfolds
Meghna Gulzar beautifully portrays the brave image of an untrained Kashmiri girl who sacrificed her education and happiness for the country’s wellness by following her father’s footsteps.
