YCP Members Snap PIL on Their Party Legislator Ambati
Amaravati: Can members of a political party file Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on one of their leaders? But two YCP members have done the same throwing the judiciary in a fix.
The duo lodged the complaint with the High Court of AP against Ambati Rambabu, who is none other than an MLA of YCP. It was alleged that he and 8 others were mining lime stone illegally. The court, having gone into the complaint, questioned the complainants, Pappula Srinivasa Reddy and Nallagorla Ramaiah, whether they were settling scores with rivals in their own party and asked the advocate representing them, whether there had been any precedents of members of a party lodging PIL on their counterparts in the same party. The hearing on the case was put off to 7th September2020.
It goes without saying, only those who do not have any personal interest in the outcome of dispute can only file PIL, as per the statute.
