Will ‘Pink’ Party Displace Sitting Legislators?
As Polls fever grips Telangana more than a year before, the sitting legislators of the ruling TRS party are in their worries. Will they be allowed to contest from the constituencies they represent? Many former MLAs and MPs from Congress and TDP have joined in TRS hoping to secure tickets. Where can they be accommodated?
Of late senior TDP leader, Uma Madhava Reddy along with her son Sandeep Reddy from Bhongiri shifted loyalties to TRS presumably on an assurance they would be in fray in the elections. It’s learnt, she doesn’t want to contest in Assembly polls but aspires to be a candidate for one of the three Rajya Sabha seats for which the election will be held in March 2018. She is, however, is particular in fielding her son from Bhongiri in 2019 Assembly polls.
If that is the scenario, will the sitting TRS legislator from Bhongiri, Pailla Sekhar Reddy be displaced? As there is no sign of increasing the number of Assembly seats in both the Telugu speaking states in near future, it will be a tough task to the TRS top brass to accommodate all those who defected from the rival parties.
